I have my “close” button set to push, mostly because I think it looks a little better. However, once a screen size gets to a certain size or smaller, the button gets pushed off the screen and there seems to be no way to close the menu without clicking a link, which isn’t always ideal.

So I either need a different way to close the menu (something intuitive that users will assume to be true…maybe swipe it away or something) or I need to add an additional “close” button somehow. Or maybe I’m just missing something! This is the first time I’ve used this particular plugin, so missing something is probably pretty likely.

    Thanks!

    Hey James,

You have a few options as you have mentioned. There are options to close menu on page clicks, keyboard shortcuts such as esc key, screen swipes or you can create a custom trigger.

If you let me know which routr you want to go down (you can combine them all) then I can help out although you should find the options from the admin pretty easily.

    Please let me know

Well I want it to be as easy as possible for the user and I think maybe adding another close button to the “additional content” box might be the best way to do that. I enabled all the other options to close the menu (page clicks was already on, so I turned on link clicks, page scroll and touch gestures), but I’d still like to have the additional button so there’s an obvious option there to close it.

    Thanks!

    Hey there,

Ok that’s perfect. In that case you just need to add whatever HTML or shortcode for a button you want to use for closing to the additional content section.

Once that is done you can then add the css selector for the new button to the trigger option so it gets used by my plugin.

Please let me know how you get on.

I didn’t realize it was as simple as just putting the ID in the trigger field—I like that a lot!

Thanks for all your help. I like Shift Nav, but I think I’ll probably be using your plugin going forward—ShiftNav just has too many limitations and is missing features, especially for a premium plugin. I like what I’ve seen from Responsive Menu Pro, though :)

    Hey James,

Excellent, I’m glad it worked for you and was easy to setup :-)

I hope you continue enjoying it.
