    Hello,

Is it possible to have the menu remember it’s state when the user re-opens it (after having closed it)?

For example, if I’m using the Slide Effect on sub-menus, and the user drills down and open a page from a sub-menu, at which point the menu closes, the next time they open, is it possible for the menu to open displaying where they left off rather than always opening back at the top-level of the menu?

    Thanks,
    Kristin.

    Hey Kristin,

That is an interesting option and not one that exists currently.

I will have to see how possible it is to implement something like that.

    All the best

Related question—is there code/logic/a function that can be used to control the menu/menu items indirectly? Like, code that would essentially do the same thing as clicking on a menu item?

For example, I have a menu that slides out and has both <i>Expand Sub Menus on Parent Item Click</i> and <i>Slide Effect<i> (within the Sub Menu tab), and you “slide” over your menu items like…

    Top Level Item > Child 1 > Child 2 > Child 3 > Child 4

Could I have a link on a page that triggers a function to open the menu and move to a specific menu view (like, opens the menu with the Child 4 level displayed)?

Or, if I wanted to build breadcrumbs into the menu (to replace the basic “Back” link)…so under the logo in the menu, with each click it dynamically adds to the breadcrumb (which I’d deal with coding that part), so when I’ve slid to the Child 4 level menu view, the breadcrumbs would display…

    Top Level Item > Child 1 > Child 2 > Child 3 > Child 4

…and if I clicked on the Child 1 link in the breadcrumbs, the menu would slide back to the Child 1 level menu view?

Just not sure what the code is to trigger the move to a specific menu view (if that’s even possible)?

    Thanks,
    Kristin.

    Hey Kristin,

No custom triggers like that exist. The only thing you can change is the main trigger that triggers the initial menu load but not something to specify which item gets loaded up.

In terms of breadcrumbs, maybe you could use WordPress own built in filters but it might get quite fiddly.

    All the best
